A photography exhibition to highlight the wonder, beauty and importance and skin, and to celebrate skin as a seductive and sensual organ, while also challenging traditional perceptions of beauty.
Concept
Having cared for skin for 140 years, Vaseline is uniquely positioned to understand the importance of skin. Robin Dutt, respected art/style curator and critic and fellow ‘Missionaire’, suggested creating a photography exhibition to highlight the wonder, beauty and importance and skin, and to celebrate skin as a seductive and sensual organ, while also challenging traditional perceptions of beauty.
All the photography was newly created – featuring a selection of celebrity photographs each focusing on a favourite part of the body, and new works by six leading contemporary photographers, selected for their contrasting styles and cutting-edge techniques, who photographed ordinary people of all ages, creating a surprising and thought-provoking expression about skin.
Exhibits
Celebrity photographs, commissioned by Elle magazine, featuring celebrities’ favourite body parts, including actor Rachel Weisz, ballerina Darcey Bussell, models Sophie Dahl, Yasmin Le Bon and Erin O’Connor, make-up artist Jemma Kidd, party organiser Meg Matthews and singer Moby.
The work by six contemporary photographers – Marcelo Benfield, Adam Butler, Candice Farmer, Craig Lynn, Natasha Seeryand Tomas Schelp.
Following the exhibition, the photographs were available to view/buy via an online auction. The proceeds went to the newly opened cancer charity, Gilda’s Club.
