Carte Blanche was a celebration of pure, white forms, unmuddled by the emotions encouraged by colour.

Concept

‘White’ was declared the colour for the new Millennium – as announced by leading forecasting magazine View On Colour. For the Victorians, white triggered associations of stoicism and cold intellect, forcing contemplation.

The psychology of white suggests a new beginning and cleansing from the past. As the Millennium drew closer, white was widely celebrated by fashion and furniture designers alike, their designs echoing the prevailing mood and an attempt to go beyond materialism towards a spiritual ethos.
