OUT OF DARKNESS:
An Exploration of Contemporary Lighting
(May – June 1998)
An Exploration of Contemporary Lighting
CONCEPT
For too long in the design world, lighting was furniture's poor cousin. Out of Darkness considered lighting design as a visual and artistic medium, exploring its influence on architectural form, space and human behaviour.
Lighting design concerns itself with the texture and form of the objects it strikes, as much as the light source itself. The wide range of exhibits created a celebration of light and illumination in all its shapes and forms.
All pieces were for sale, with prices ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds.
Catalogue and launch party invitation designed by NB Studio.
Launch party supported by Guinness.
