Sign of the Times
Examining taste
in the British home,
provocative BBC2 series
Sign of the Times
was accompanied with
a “photographic comedy
of manners” by documentary
photographer Martin Parr
and producer Nicholas Barker.
Handling the book’s PR for
Cornerhouse Publications,
Yvonne also worked closely
with the BBC to maximise
the project’s PR potential.
Nicholas Barker gamely allowed
his home to be forensically
scrutinised during press interviews.
The TV series was launched
at Allied Carpets
on Edgware Road.
The book was launched
with a photographic display
at Liberty, and an auction,
‘Oh Darling, You Shouldn’t Have..’
compered by style guru
Peter York, featuring celebrities
‘unwanted naff’ items,
donated by Bruce Forsyth,
Clive Anderson, Robert Elms,
Ronnie Corbett, Nicholas Parsons,
Richard Branson and many others.
Proceeds went to the
homeless charity Centrepoint.
