Scandal!

Yvonne masterminded
Christine Keeler’s re-entry
into the public domain
since the 1960s,
handling all media interest
in Christine and her memoirs,
upon which the film was based.

Given the negative preconceptions
by most of the press (and public),
Yvonne was very protective,
ruling out most of the tabloids
and prohibiting potentially
unflattering photography.

A photo-shoot was arranged
with David Bailey and interviews
were held on a near daily basis
at the Basil Street Hotel –
its nooks and crannies proving ideal
for private conversations.

Christine gamely agreed
to revisit the famous chair pose
for You magazine.
The Daily Mail organised
a tea party at The Savoy
to ‘eavesdrop’ the conversation
between Christine
and Joanne Whalley Kilmer
(who played Christine in Scandal!)

Attending the film preview
after-party at the Liberal Club
(where else?) was great fun, attended
by many film and TV stars.

Yvonne was Christine’s agent
for several years,
handling appearance requests
for programmes and events
in London, Rome, Madrid and Dublin.

It is interesting to note
how public sentiment
is much more sympathetic
to Christine’s plight than 30 years ago.
There is more understanding
about the exploitation of power
in all spheres of life –
from entertainment to politics.
