WESTBOURNE DESIGN ROUTE

To help put Yvonne and Misha Stefan’s new showspace, Mission on London’s design map, Yvonne decided to develop and promote the surrounding area in and around Westbourne Grove into a ‘design hub’. London’s first!

At that time, the area had a wealth of design showrooms, antique dealer shops and galleries. Participants included Aero, Bill Amberg, Bowles & Linares, Christopher Farr, Dinny Hall, Space and Succession. 

Special guides and maps were secured with Wallpaper*, Elle and the Independent Saturday Magazine. Bombay Sapphire supported the entire event, supplying every store’s launch party.

There was a tremendous buzz on the opening night – with many high profile design industry players paying a visit. At the same time, design events were starting to pop up all over London… a few years later they would become branded under one umbrella – the London Design Festival.
